Type species. Papilio broteas Cramer, 1780 .
Definition. The subgenus is sister to Praxa Grishin , new subgenus ( Fig. 1 View Figure 1 ). Keys to D.5.3b in Evans (1952). Distinguished from its relatives by the following combination of characters: the closest to costa apical white spot on forewing in line with others (not offset basad); cheeks and palpi white; tegumen with side processes, harpe with a tooth by ventral side. In DNA, a combination of the following base pairs is diagnostic: aly525.53.4:A108 T, aly1222.15.5:A8532G, aly 2532.10.1:A375G, aly113.26.2:A28C, and aly28779.7.3:A62 T .
Etymology. The name is a masculine noun in the nominative singular, a fusion of species names in this genus: Br [oteas] + [sol] on.
Species included. The type species and Telemiades solon Plötz, 1882 .
Parent taxon. Genus Nascus Watson, 1893 .
