Triangular bract 3.5 to 7 mm long and 1.5 mm wide, attenuate apex and rounded base surface covered by spiny laciniate, up to 1 mm long. Bracts of this type have usually been assigned to a poplar ( Heer 1856, Unger 1867) without any specific determination. Even the generic determination is uncertain.
