Notes. The proposal to conserve Loasa rudis against the older L. rhoeadifolia was just recently published by us and awaits formal acceptance ( Acuña-Castillo & Weigend, 2022). Hartweg visited at least two localities with the name of “Santa María” while he was in Guatemala. The first near the volcano of the same name, in what nowadays is Departamento Quetzaltenango, and the second in Departamento Sacatepéquez near the Agua Volcano ( Hartweg, 1848). We are unsure where he collected the Loasa rudis type collection. The type material associated with L. rhoeadifolia seems to be lost as mentioned by Acuña-Castillo and Weigend (2022). We have been unable to locate any extant material that could be considered a type associated with the name L. bicolor , however, the description and origin of the plants (Prov. Chiriquí, Panamá) indicate that it most likely represents a heterotypic synonym of Nasa rudis .
