Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen observed at Bauddisson Island, Kavieng District , 1–19 m depth, St. T 5, on 31 Oct. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Marshall and Solomon Islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on fine sand and rubble bottoms, associated with alpheid shrimps, 1–5 m depth. Marine.
