Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District by Dietmar Amon on 10 May 2009, and at 4 m depth by Dean Tully on 22 Sept. 2012 .

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Indonesia and New Guinea, south to Queensland ( Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on sand near patch reefs, in burrows with alpheid shrimps, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
