Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken on north coast of Manne Island, Kavieng District at 1–11 m depth, St. KR 36, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); a specimen observed at Anelaua Island , New Hanover , 2–16 m depth, St. T 22, on 8 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Solitary or in pairs, in sheltered coastal reefs, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
