Chromis caudalis Randall 1988 —Dusky chromis

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed on 2 June 2013, first dive, during ACIAR Aquarium Survey at Kavieng; others photographed at St. KVG23 (east side of Bauddisson Island , Kavieng District ) by Serge Andréfouët on 21 Aug. 2014 .

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Christmas Island and Indonesia east to Marshall, Phoenix and Line islands, north to Philippines, south to Papua New Guinea. Found on steep seaward reef slopes, 20–50 m depth. Marine.
