Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed on 4 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District (see Teitelbaum et al. 2013: 14).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Eastern Indonesia east to Caroline Islands and Tonga, north to Philippines, south to Solomon Islands. Solitary or in pairs, on steep drop-offs of seaward reefs, 20–80 m depth. Marine.
