Upeneus spottocaudalis Uiblein, Gledhill & Peristiwady 2017 —Caudal-spot goatfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11195 (1 specimen, 40.3 mm SL, St. CP 4455-22, eastnortheast of Bangatang).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Southern Indonesia to northeastern Australia. 23–60 m depth. Marine.

Remarks. The present species represents a new depth record for the species, which was previously known from depths of 23–35 m ( Uiblein et al. 2017).
