Equulites elongatus (Günther 1874)  —Slender ponyfish

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Lewis et al. (1974); reported from Kavieng, New Ireland as Leiognathus elongatus  by Kailola (1975: 126). KFRS material.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: East Africa east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Schooling in coastal waters, 20–100 m depth. Marine.
