Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Matanalaua River, New Hanover as Equula decora by Munro (1958: 197).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: East Africa, Durban ( South Africa) and Madagascar east to Philippines and New Caledonia, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Schooling in coastal waters, 1–30 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
