Siphamia spinicola Gon & Allen 2012  —Reef siphonfish

Status at New Ireland. Reported from Kavieng, New Ireland in original description by Gon & Allen (2012: 66). USNM material. NTUM 11360 (1 spec., 28.6 mm SL:, St. DW4500-1, 3.3 km southwest of Kavieng).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Malaysia and Philippines to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and northern Australia, east to Micronesia, Fiji and Tonga. Aggregating in groups, in sheltered bays and lagoons, sometimes associated with Seratopora corals Acanthaster plancki  or Diadema sea urchins, 14– 150 m depth. Marine.
