Epinephelus bontoides (Bleeker 1855) —Palemargin grouper

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 20 m depth by Dean Tully on 9 July 2011.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Central Indonesia east to Philippines and New Britain ( Papua New Guinea), north to Taiwan. Found in sheltered reefs over mud, rock and coral bottom, 2– 30 m depth. Marine.
