Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at St. KVG24 (off northwestern Bauddisson Island) by Serge Andréfouët on 22 Aug. 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Malaysia and Indonesia east to Philippines and New Guinea, south to northern Australia. Benthic on sand or coral rubble in coral reef, 0–5 m depth. Transitional water, marine.
