Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland as Fistularia serrata by Peters (1877: 842); subsequently reported as Fistularia petimba by Munro (1958: 140).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 0.—General distribution: Circumglobal in tropical seas, except the eastern Pacific. Benthopelagic above soft bottoms, at depths of 1–200 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
