Status at New Ireland. New record, from New Guinea, based on NTUM 11191 (CP4455-16), 1 specimen, 94.3 mm SL, northeast of Bauddisson Island .

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Southern Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Sri Lanka east to Philippines, north to the southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Found on soft bottoms, 9–91 m depth. Marine.
