Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District , 7 m depth, by Dean Tully on 22 Sept. 2012.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa, Seychelles, Comores and La Réunion east to Wake Atoll, Marshall Islands, Samoa and Tonga, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to Western Australia, Queensland ( Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on seaward reef slopes, 5–90 m depth. Marine.
