Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Emirau Island, St. Mathias Group, by Kailola (1975: 65), based on KFRS material; reported from Drei Inseln Harbour, New Hanover as Hypoatherina uisila (non Jordan & Seale, 1906) by Munro (1958: 155).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 4.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Samoa, north to southern China, south to northern Australia, 0–8 m depth. Marine.
