Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Ningin Island, New Ireland by Munro (1958: 137).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 3.—General distribution: East Africa and Madagascar east to Panama, north to southern Japan and Hawaiian Islands, south to New Caledonia and Loyalty Islands. Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0–20 m depth. Marine.
