Status at New Ireland. New record, based on confirmed records from an observer program on shark longline vessels in in May and June 2014 (NFA and CSIRO unpublished data); tissue samples and vertebrae retained.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 5.—General distribution: Circumglobal in warm temperate and tropical seas. Pelagic, 0 – 700 m depth. Marine.
