Distribution. Collected from off Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, at depths from 909 to 1699 m. Cetonurus globiceps was described from off Western Sahara (23°57'N, 17°12'W), and is also known in eastern Atlantic from Mauritania, Senegal, Canary Islands, Bay of Biscal and Azores, in the western Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and Brazil, and in the Pacific from Japan and Indonesia ( Iwamoto 1966; Marshall 1973a; Gaistdoerfer 1990; Séret & Andreata 1992; Menezes & Figueiredo 2003a).
