Ocnerodrilus occidentalis Eisen, 1878

Description: Length 30–40 mm. Prostomium epilobous. Male pores in 17, with male porophores extending to the ventral part of the clitellum, connected by seminal grooves with prostatic pores. Clitellum saddle-shaped on 13–19, 20, marked ventrally by prominent, paired male porophores on 17, connected by a ventral transverse groove between prostatic pores in 17 and 19. Nephropores near b setae. Prostates one pair, much elongated, can reach segment 24. Septa 5/6–11/12 thickened somewhat thickened. Gizzard absent. Holandric. Calciferous glands paired, large, in segment 9. Spermathecae absent.

Notes: Widely distributed in tropical and temperate areas, as noted by Righi (1984) and Zicsi (1996, 1997). In RSA reported by Černosvitov (1940), Ljungström (1972), and Zicsi (1998). A thecate form of this species, Ocnerodrilus africanus Beddard, 1878 , assigned by Michaelsen (1913) and Zicsi (1998) to the genus Ilyogenia , may not occur in this country, as discussed by Plisko (2010), and is not included in this paper.
