Geographic distribution.

In Europe and North America (Great Lakes). In the Russian tundra: Murmansk Region ( Timm and Popchenko 1978), Vaygach Island ( Leshko et al. 2008), lakes in the More-yu River basin, lakes in the Kara River basin ( Baturina and Loskutova 2010), lakes in the Malaya Usa River basin ( Baturina et al. 2014b).

Ecology.

The species inhabits stones with algal cover or sand with detritus (depth 0.2-1.3 m).
