Lectotype ( Müller-Doblies in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 16. 1993): Herb. Linn. No. 140.5 ( S) .

Current name: Albuca canadensis (L.) F.M. Leight. View in CoL View at ENA ( Liliaceae / Hyacinthaceae ).

Note: Stearn (in Ann. Mus. Goulandris 6: 158, f. 10. 1983) indicated as "suggested lectotype " for Ornithogalum canadense L. (the basis of A. major ) a Cornut plate, but as he also added "but Linn. Herb. 426.1...possible", this cannot be accepted as an unequivocal choice of type. The name was formally typified by U. Müller-Doblies in 1993 but subsequently (see Feddes Repert. 105: 367. 1994; 117: 116. 2006) informally rejected as a nomen confusum (as the basionym of Albuca canadensis ) in favour of A. maxima Burm. f. (1768). However, no formal proposal for the rejection of the name appears to have been made.
