Measurements (mm). Length of body: male 48–68, female 43–66; pronotum: male 16–20, female 15–18.5; hind femur: male 19–25, female 20–24; ovipositor: 17–20.5 ( Shugurov 1906; Harz 1969).
Remarks. The specimens given from Bulgaria: Kaliakra, Bolata, Balcic and from Serbia, Nisch ( Tatu & Tauşan 2012) should be confirmed.
This species is near to B. multituberculatus sp. group by the single ended inner arm of male cerci and the basal projection of ventral valve of ovipositor with rounded apex. But the clearly divergent apices of the ventral and dorsal valves of ovipositor are not similar which strongly agrees with the remaining 3 species groups. It seems that it is an interstage species between B. multituberculatus sp. group and B. macrogaster sp. group. However, because of its unique female subgenital plate which is one of the main characters of species groups, the shape of male cerci and titillator, it is retained in its own species group (see key above and Ünal 2011).
This species is in “Least Concern” status in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (2016–3) and in the European Red List of Orthoptera ( Hochkirch et al. 2016) .
