Material examined. 1 ovigerous Female, (TL: 61mm) 0 6 Apr. 2014, south edge of Deserta Island, 10m, 27°16'19.3'' S, 48°19'86.0'' W, between rocks, in a cavity with difficult access ( LCP /ECZ/ UFSC-082).
Material observed. 1 individual, 25 Mar. 2014, north edge of Deserta Island–SC, 12m, 27°16'62.6''S 48°19'91.5''W, between large rocks in a cavity with difficult access; 2 individuals (1 couple), 0 6 Apr. 2014, south edge of Deserta Island–SC, 11m, 27°16'19.3''S 48°19'86.0''W, between rocks in a cavity with difficult access, one of these specimens was captured for a posteriori study under the microscope.
Distribution. Circumtropical species. Occur in the Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and South Africa to the Hawaiian and Tuamotu Islands. In the Western Atlantic, it is found from Bermuda and North Carolina coast, Gulf of Mexico and South Florida, to the North coast of South America. In Brazil, this species has been recorded from Ceará (03o S) to São Paulo (23o S) states and in the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago (13o S).
Remark. The present record extends the species range around 500 km towards the south (27o S) in the western Atlantic.
