16. Triceratium reticulum Ehrenberg ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 2–11 )
Synonym: Biddulphia reticulum (Ehrenberg) Boyer ; Trigonium reticulum (Ehrenberg) Simonsen.
Type locality: not given.
References: Hustedt 1927 –1930, p. 823, figs 485, 486; Hendey 1964, p. 102, pl. 25, fig. 6.
Morphometrics: Valves 51 (25–80) μm in apical length, areolae 3–4 (4–5) in 10 μm.
Remarks: Triceratium reticulum was found predominantly in marine littoral areas of tropical and subtropical oceans ( Hustedt 1927 –1930, Hendey 1964, Witkowski et al. 2000). This taxon was reported near Vero Beach of Florida ( Mahoney & Gibson 1983), from the southeastern coast of India ( Rajasekar et al. 2005, Sahu et al. 2012). It was listed in the diatom catalogue of the Caribbean Sea ( Navarro & Hernández-Becerril 1997). It was reported rarely from the western coast of Korea in the past ( Shim 1994), and occurred very rarely along the Seogwipo coast in Jeju Island.
