24. Cyclophora tenuis Castracane View in CoL ( Figs 32–34 View FIGURES 29–38 )
Type locality: Ancona and Naples, Italy .
References: Navarro 1982a, p. 248, figs 9–17; Round et al. 1990, p. 438, figs a–l; Ashworth et al. 2012, p. 686, figs 1, 5, 6, 14–18.
Morphometrics: Valves 31–50 (44–76) μm long, 7–8 (7–11) μm wide, transapical striae not resolvable in light microscopy (28–32 in 10 μm).
Remarks: Cyclophora tenuis has been reported from many tropical or subtropical localities: the Mediteranean coast of France (Peragallo & Peragallo 1897–1908), Puerto Rico in Caribbean Sea ( Navarro 1982a), Japan ( Tanaka et al. 1984), Fiji ( Foged 1987), Palawan of Philippines ( Podzorski & Håkansson 1987), the Evoikos Gulf of Greece ( Belegratis & Economou-Amilli 2002), Guam in the Micronesia ( Navarro & Lobban 2009, Ashworth et al. 2012), and Chuuk Lagoon in the Micronesia ( Park et al. 2018). This taxon is widely distributed from tropical to subtropical oceans, but less frequent in its occurrence. It was found rarely as an epiphyte on seaweeds along the Seogwipo coast in Jeju Island, representing a new record for South Korea.
