TYPE LOCALITY: " Mexico," probably in or near the Valley of Mexico .

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.

COMMENT: Status doubtful, possibly conspecific with couesi ; subgenus Oryzomys ; see Hall, 1981:608, 612, and comment under couesi .
