TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Tamaulipas, Charco Escondido .
DISTRIBUTION: S.W. Kansas to S. W. New Mexico ( U.S.A.), N. Veracruz, and S.E. San Luis Potosi ( Mexico).
COMMENT: Includes canescens and planiceps; see Birney, 1973, Mise. Publ. Univ. Kans. Mus. Nat. Hist., 58: 173. This species produces hybrids with floridana at one known locality (see Birney, 1973, who considered micropus and floridana distinct species), and may hybridize with albigula in S. E. Colorado (according to Finley, 1958, Mise. Publ., Univ. Kans. Mus. Nat. Hist., 10:213-552) and possibly in E. Coahuila, Mexico (see Anderson, 1969, Univ. Kans. Mus. Nat. Hist. Mise. Publ., 51:25- 50); see Hall, 1981:748, 750-752.
