DISTRIBUTION: N.E. Algeria; Tunisia; coastal plains of Egypt and Libya; perhaps Morocco.
COMMENT: Includes kaiseri; see Petter, 1975, Part 6.3:2, Cockrum et al., 1976, Mammalia, 40:313-326, and Osborn and Helmy, 1980, Fieldiana Zool., n.s., 5: 161. Also see Corbet, 1978:123, who listed kaiseri as a distinct species; simoni and kaiseri have disjunct distributions. May include zakariai ; see Cockrum et al., 1976, Mammalia, 40:313-326 (DML).
