TYPE LOCALITY: Bolivia, La Paz Dept., Esperanza, northeast of Mt. Sajama, 4140 m .

DISTRIBUTION: Extreme N. Chile and adjacent Bolivia and Peru.

COMMENT: Listed in subgenus Galenomys of Phyllotis by Pearson and Patton, 1976, J. Mammal., 57:339, without comment; see Hershkovitz, 1962, Fieldiana Zool., 46:468.
