TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Minas Gerais, Rio das Velhas, Lagoa Santa .

DISTRIBUTION: Chaco ( Argentina); Minais Gerais, Distrito Federale ( Brazil); perhaps Paraguay.

COMMENT: Includes chacoensis ( Gyldenstolpe, 1932) ; see Hershkovitz, 1966, Z. Saugetierk., 31: 116; the type is from Pleistocene cave deposits. Reviewed by Avila-Pires, 1972, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 32(3):419-422.
