TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Colima, Manzanillo .
DISTRIBUTION: S. Sinaloa to Oaxaca; Balsas Basin of C. Puebla ( Mexico).
COMMENT: Reviewed by Genoways and Birney, 1974, Mamm. Species, 41:1 -4, Hall, 1981:771, and Burt and Barkalow, 1942, J. Mammal., 23:287-297, as Neotoma (Hodomys) ; but see Carleton, 1980:121, who considered Hodomys a distinct genus.
