DISTRIBUTION: Islands of the Parana Estuary (E. Argentina); S. Uruguay (AL).

COMMENT: Subgenus Deltamys ; see Cabrera, 1961:451, Massoia, 1964, Physis, ser. 24, 68:299-305, and Reig, 1978, Publ. Mus. Munic. Cienc. Nat. Mar del Plata "Lorenzo Scaglia," 2(8):176; also see Massoia, 1980, Hist. Nat., 1 (25): 179, who considered Deltamys a distinct genus.
