COMMENT: Included as a subgenus in Akodon by Ellerman, 1941:406, and Cabrera, 1961:453. Bianchi et al., 1971, Evolution, 25:724-736, and Reig, 1978, Publ. Mus. Munic. Cienc. Nat. Mar del Plata "Lorenzo Scaglia," 2(8): 164-190, considered Bolomys a distinct genus. Includes Cabreramys; see Reig, 1978:164- 190; Massoia, 1980, Hist. Nat., 1 (25):179, used the name Cabreramys but did not mention Reig, 1978:164- 190. Includes Thalpomys as a subjective synonym; see Langguth, 1975, Papeis Avulsos Zool. Sao Paulo, 29(8):45-54, and comments under Akodon. Gardner and Patton, 1976, Occas. Pap. Mus. Zool. La. St. Univ., 25:27-30, Cabrera, 1961:453, Reig, 1978:164- 190, and Pine et al., 1979, Mammalia, 43:348, differed regarding the contents of Bolomys. Formerly included Akodon albiventer which includes berlepschii; see Pine et al., 1979, Mammalia, 43:347-348; also see Corbet and Hill, 1980:151.
