Genus Aclis Lovén, 1846

Type species: Alvania supranitida Wood, 1842 (= A. minor (Brown, 1827)) by monotypy.

The two species described herein fit perfectly into the concept of aclidids as expressed above and are far from being considered pyramidellids or eulimids. Pyramidellidae have the following characteristics: protoconch heterostrophic, aperture pyriform to rhomboid, usually outer lip thin, and one to three collumelar folds ( Diaz & Puyana 1994; Pimenta & Absalão 2004). Eulimidae have shells of variable shape, however, generally narrow, extremely glossy, with very slight whorls and no obvious sculpture, often having a bent spire ( Fretter & Graham 1982; Warén 1983).
