The species occurred in a single reservoir (A39) in Hunan. Littoral species, associated with vegetation. Paleotropical species, common in tropical Asia, Mediterranean region, and Africa ( Van Damme et al. 2011, Sinev & Kotov 2012). Recorded for China mostly as Alona verrucosa Sars, 1901 ( Ji et al. 2015). For detailed descriptions see Van Damme et al. (2011), for a description of Indochina populations see Sinev & Kotov (2012).
