Calvarium (Calvariellum) lancifer , n. sp.
( Figs. 38 − 42 View FIGURES 38 − 42 )
Type material. Holotype ♂ 3 paratypes ♂: “ 12.44S 143.148E QLD 3km ENE Mt. Tozer 28 June − 4 July 1986 D.H.Colless Malaise trap” ( ANIC).
Habitus. Similar to congeners, BL 1.9 − 2.1 mm. Dorsal face blackish, appendages yellowish.
Male. T8 with straight sides and regularly rounded caudal margin. Apodemes almost twice as long as plate, continued onto plate. Plate densely covered with grouped microtrichia, increasingly long, dense and irregular towards caudal margin where they form a fringe ( Figs. 38, 39 View FIGURES 38 − 42 ). S8 not observed.
T9 represented only by two exceptionally long gently curved struts. Their caudal 2/5 are hollow, tubular, the apex is a gently curved sclerotized spine ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 38 − 42 ). S9, tegmen and parameroids seem similar to the other species, details not visible in preparations ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 38 − 42 ).
Contour of penis pyramidal. Base wide, front margin concave, corners rounded. The trigonium is a slender triangular cone. Parameroids longer than trigonium, straight, apically abruptly widened on medial face, apex with some small pores ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 38 − 42 ).
Female. Unknown.
Etymology. The name (a Latin noun in apposition) means lance-carrier, in reference to the long, lance-like struts of T9.
