Chorology.

Described from Bulgaria ( Puthz 1972b: 250), Stenus nodipes is common from the Balkans throughout Turkey and Syria eastwards to Armenia and Iran ( Puthz 2009: 34). In Iran, the species is known only from a comparatively small area in the northwestern Zagros Mountains between southern West Azarbaijan and northern Ilam (Fig. 3 View Figures 1–6 ).

Biogeographical characterization.

Due to its distribution in Southeast Europe, Anatolia, and the Caucasus region, we consider Stenus nodipes to be an expansive Pontomediterranean species.
