Type material: Holotype: ♂, Pedregal de San Angel [19°25’N, 99°12’W], Distrito Federal, Mexico, 15 June 1941, J. Alvarez leg. ( AMNH)

Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition and refers to the type locality.

Diagnosis. Males of C. pedregal sp. nov. are distinguished from those of the other species of the genus by the palp with vRTA2 bifid with one branch short and stout and the other almost as long as dRTA, with an aculeus-like projection at tip and by the tegulum proximally swollen (Fig. 81). Females are unknown.

Description. Male: Prosoma orange with small black marks along lateral margins of cephalic region. Chelicerae orange with small brown spots at the base of setae. Pedipalps orange. Legs orange, ventrally mottled with brown spots. Labium brown. Endites orange, distally lighter. Sternum orange with brown margins. Opisthosoma cream colored, mottled with pale brown spots. Total length 10.0. Prosoma: 4.5 long, 4.4 wide. Opisthosoma: 5.2 long, 3.7 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.32, 0.30, 0.20, 0.28; interdistances: 0.24, 0.08, 0.42, 0.42, 0.18, 0.14. Legs (2143): I: 20.1 (5.5, 2.4, 5.1, 5.4, 1.7); II: 22.2 (6.3, 2.5, 5.8, 5.8, 1.8); III: 16.8 (5.0, 2.0, 4.1, 4.3, 1.4); IV: 19.1 (5.9, 2.0, 4.7, 5.1, 1.4). Palp: vRTA1 short and squared. Subtegulum visible at 10 o’clock position. Embolus short with large triangular base, arising medially from tegulum. Conductor distally widened. (Figs 81−82).

Female: Unknown.

Distribution. Known from Distrito Federal, Mexico (Map 4).
