Sparassus ensiger F.O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1900: 125 , plate 9, fig. 12 (Holotype male from Mexico, no specific locality, deposited in NHM 85/40, examined).

Olios ensiger (F.O. Pickard-Cambridge) View in CoL : Petrunkevitch 1911: 498; World Spider Catalog 2015.

Additional material examined. MEXICO: Undetermined state (see note below): 1♂, Guadalajara, N. Banks leg. ( MCZ 69108).

Diagnosis. Males of C. ensiger comb. nov. resemble those of C. luctuosus comb. nov. by the palp with vRTA2 with three or more points along ventral surface and by the embolus short with large triangular base (Figs 49−50, 65−66). They are distinguished from those of the latter species by the vRTA1 squared in ventral view and elongate in retrolateral view and vRTA2 with five points along ventral surface (Figs 49−50). Females are unknown.

Description. Male (MCZ 69108): Prosoma orange brown, slightly darker at eye area and along fovea and thoracic striae. Chelicerae, legs and pedipalps orange. Labium and endites brown, distally pale orange. Sternum cream colored with pale brown margins. Opisthosoma yellowish-orange, dorsally with very faint, scattered brown markings. Total length 9.9. Prosoma: 4.7 long, 4.3 wide. Opisthosoma: 4.8 long, 3.3 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.32, 0.30, 0.20, 0.24; interdistances: 0.16, 0.10, 0.42, 0.44, 0.22, 0.16. Legs (2143): I: 23.2 (6.0, 2.7, 6.0, 6.5, 2.0); II: 25.6 (6.8, 2.7, 6.8, 7.2, 2.1); III: 18.4 (5.4, 2.1, 4.6, 4.8, 1.5); IV: 21.2 (6.0, 2.2, 5.5, 6.0, 1.5). Palp: dRTA long. Subtegulum visible at 10 o’clock position. Embolus arising medially from tegulum. Conductor cylindrical with the same width throughout its entire length. (Figs 49−50).

Female: Unknown.

Distribution. Distribution is doubtful. Holotype label says only Mexico and the label of the only additional specimen says Guadalajara. Nevertheless, there is a Guadalajara in seven different states in Mexico and there is no indication to which one it refers.
