Nuberis Bamber & Marshall, 2015 and Bathyleptochelia Larsen, 2003

Nuberis Bamber & Marshall, 2015 (subfamily Leptocheliinae ) has some common features with Bathyleptochelia Larsen, 2003 , not commented on by Bamber & Marshall (op.cit.). Namely, the females of the two genera have (1) antennule three-articulate (without short flagellar segment), (2) cheliped merus with single ventral long seta, (3) cheliped carpus with single proximodorsal small seta, (4) cheliped fixed finger with five setae, (5) pereopod-1 carpus with single dorsodistal long seta, (6) uropod endopod four-segmented, and (7) uropod exopod long (uni- or bi-segmented).

At the same time, the females of these two genera differ by (1) the presence of proximodorsal seta of pereopods 1–3 bases, in Nuberis , (2) the presence of ventrodistal seta of pereopods 2–3 meri, in Bathyleptochelia , and (3) the absence of mid-inner plumose seta of the pleopodal endopod, in Nuberis . The common morphological features of the females suggest a high resemblance between Nuberis and Bathyleptochelia , although they have a different bathymetric distribution. Inevitably, the similarity of these two genera will be established only after the discovery of males.
