Chernetidae Menge, 1855 View in CoL
Chernes hungaricus Daday, 1889 , nomen dubium
Chernes (Ectoceras) hungaricus Daday, 1889a: 119 , 174–175.
Chernes hungaricus : Harvey 1991: 669; Harvey 2013; Novák & Dányi 2018: 319.
Remarks: Daday (1889a) described Chernes hungaricus from specimens collected near Paulis, which is now located in Romania. As the type material is probably lost ( Novák & Dányi 2018), and the original description lacks sufficient detail on most of the characters used in modern pseudoscorpion taxonomy ( Daday 1889a), this species is confirmed as a nomen dubium as first proposed by Harvey (1991). This species is also a junior primary homonym of Chernes (Chernes) cyrneus var. hungaricus Daday, 1889 .
