Holotype ♀, Thailand, Lampang Province, Chae Son NP, nursery, 14–21.xi.2007, 18° 49.939' N, 99° 28.126' E, 485m, B Kwannui & A Sutpeng (collection code T5332) (no sequence data) ( QSBG).

Body length 5.4 mm, fore wing length 4.8 mm and antenna length 7.2 mm.

Antenna with 53 flagellomeres. Terminal flagellomere cylindrical, weakly acuminate. Median flagellomeres 2 x longer than wide. Occipital carina complete mediodorsally, ventrally joining hypostomal carina. Mesopleuron largely aciculate, precoxal sulcus moderately deep and rugulose, specular area entirely aciculate sculpture. Propodeum with complete midlongitudinal carina. Fore wing vein 2-CU1 1.2 x 1-CU1. Apex of fore wing subbasal cell with a small, narrow but distinct glabrous area. Fore wing vein 3-SR 1.0 x vein r. Fore wing vein SR1 3.0 x vein 3-SR. Hind wing vein M+CU 1.4 x 1-M. Hind wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Hind wing vein m-cu well-developed, interstitial. Hind coxa strongly aciculate with distinct oblique striation basomedially. Apex of hind tibia with comb of modified adpressed setae. Claws without conspicuous pecten. Basal lobes of 1 st tergite hardly protruding smoothly rounded. Midlongitudinal carina of 3 rd tergite not differentiated.

Etymology. Named in honour of the science fiction author Larry Niven, famous among other works for his Ringworld series.
