Aleiodes butcheri sp. nov.

Holotype ♀, Thailand, Surat Thani, Khao Sok NP, Banghuaraed 19–26.v.2009, 8° 54.555' N, 98° 30.522' E, 122 m, Pongphan (collection code T4867) (no sequence data) ( QSBG).

Body length 3.3 mm and fore wing length 3.0 mm.

Antenna broken. Median flagellomeres approximately 3 x longer than wide. Occipital carina broadly incomplete mediodorsally, ventrally joining hypostomal carina. Mesopleuron above precoxal sulcus largely polished, precoxal sulcus very broad and steep, shallow with extensive fine longitudinal striation, mesosternum aciculate, speculum very large. Propodeum with midlongitudinal carina on anterior half only, posteriorly eplaced by transverse rugae. Fore wing vein 2-CU1 1.1 x 1-CU1. Apex of fore wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Fore wing vein 3-SR 2.1 x vein r. Fore wing vein 2-SR+M 1.1 x vein r. Fore wing vein SR1 3.1 x vein 3-SR. Hind wing vein M+CU 1.25 x 1-M. Hind wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Hind wing vein m-cu well developed, far antefurcal. Apex of hind tibia with comb of modified adpressed setae medially. Claws without conspicuous pecten. Basal lobes of 1 st tergite hardly protruding and not extending beyond spiracle, weakly concave posteriorly. Midlongitudinal carina of 3 rd tergite absent.

Etymology. Named in honour of Jim Butcher, author of The Dresden Files series, one of the DQ’s favourite authors.
