Brachybarcinus baianus n. sp.
( Figs. 51, 52; photo 18)
Material examined: Holotype ♂ mounted on triangular card:” China, Yunnan, Lvchun / Huanglianshan 1791m / N22°56,625, E102°17.785 / 2009 V 16, Bai, XS/ Ent.Mus.CAU Beijing ”//” Holotype ♂ / Brachybarcinus / baianus n. sp. / des. E.Heiss 2009” ( CAU); paratypes 1♂ 1♀ collected with holotype ( CAU, CEHI). GoogleMaps
Diagnosis: Differs from vietnamensis n. sp. and secundus n. sp. by the shorter angulate and not rounded deltg VI and VII, the shorter anterior lateral lobe and the less developed posterior lobe of pronotum and by smaller postocular tubercles.
Description: male, micropterous.
Head: Longer than wide across eyes (21/17.5); genae produced over clypeus, apex rounded; antennae 2.82x as long as width of head (49.5/17.5), length of antennal segments I/II/III/IV = 16.5/9717/7.
Thorax: Pronotum: 2.67x as wide as long, anterolateral lobes slightly produced over level of anterior margin, lateral margins sinuate without distinct posterior lobes, parallel at humeri; surface as in other species.
Mesonotum: Scutellum more than 3x as wide as long, its structure as in vietnamensis n. sp.; corium short about as wide as long, lateral margins only with an anterior projecting lateral lobe, pe-angle rounded, vestige of membrane lacking.
Metanotum: Shape and structure and fusion of tergites I+II as in other species.
Abdomen: Lateral margins evenly rounded, pe-angles of deltg II–V feebly produced and rounded, that of deltg VI truncate posteriorly; deltg VII triangularly produced posteriorly as long as clavate paratergites VIII; colouration of tergite VII except a basolateral yellowish spot, pygophore and paratergites VIII dorsally and ventrally blackish.
Venter: Spiracles III–VII ventral far from lateral margin, VII sublateral on inner margin of deltg VII, VIII lateral and visible from above.
Genitalic structures: Pygophore globulose, the dorsal sclerite only feebly produced posteriorly.
Female: As male but of larger size and with wider abdomen; paratergites VII with small posteriorly projecting lobes, shorter than clavate tergite VIII; tricuspidate tergites IX and X not reaching apex of deltg VII; colouration as in male.
Measurements: Holotype ♂ 9.9mm; width of abdomen across tergite II 50, VI 42, VII 26; paratype ♂ and ♀ respectively: length 9.6, 11.7mm; head length/width 20/16, 23/18; pronotum w/l 31/12, 35/14; scutellum w/ l 34/10, 39/12; length of antennal segments I/II/III/IV = 16.5/9/16.5/7, 18/9.5/19/7; ratio length of antennae/ width of head 3.06, 2.89; width of abdomen across tergite III 51, VI 42.5, VII 26; III 61, VI 53, VII 31.
Etymology: Dedicated to my friend Xiaoshuan Bai (Huhhot, China), who collected these and many other interesting Chinese Aradidae in remote areas, recognising his interest, knowledge, and excellent and successful field work.
