TYPE LOCALITY: Saudi Arabia, Muwaylih(= Mohila) .
DISTRIBUTION: Transcaucasia to Afghanistan; Arabia to Algeria; subsaharan Africa to Cameroun and South Africa.
COMMENT: Includes bocharicus ; see Aellen, 1959, Rev. Suisse Zool., 66:362-366. R. bocharicus is considered a species by OLR and by DeBlase, 1980, Fieldiana Zool., N.S., 4:94-97. This species does not include deckenii or silvestris ; see Koopman, 1975, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 154:386.
