Type:— COLOMBIA. Putumayo: Laguna La Cocha, Ciudadela , above lake on road to Sibundoy , near Páramo de Bordoncillo , 2800–3000 m, 27 May 1946, Schultes & Villarreal 7591 (holotype: AMES, UGDA drawing!) .

Notes:— Not Stelis putumayoensis Luer & Escobar (2017: 56) . The new name honours Richard E. Schultes, cocollector of the type specimen .
