Lectotype (designated by Smith 1981: 343):— FIJI, Viti Levu, Serua Province , Navua River, 1860, Seeman 50 (K!; isotype: BM!, GH).
Distribution and Habitat:—From hill to lower montane forest in Vanuatu, Fiji and Tonga.
Taxonomic Notes:—Differs from Garcinia sect. Garcinia by having an inflorescence in thyrses of many flowers (to 40).
